The Fourth 2009 Walleye Tournament in the Washington State circuit is now over. The "Governors Cup",
one of the most prestigious events in the Washington Walleye Circuit
had 88 teams from all over the Northwest. Teams as far as Colorado
fished this event. The weather remained clear, warm with a light winds.
The water temperature ranged from the high 50's to the low 60's and was
clear. The fish were plentiful but the average size was below previous
years. The total fish caught over 2 days was 990 fish with an average
weight of 1.17 pounds. Walleye's Northwest did their usual fabulous job
of weighing-in and handling the fish. All but 6 fish caught were
released. Good Job George!
The big fish for day one was caught by LARRY CAMPBELL &
JEFF LOONEY at 3.88 pounds. The big fish for day two was caught by STAN
ROMIG & JASON ROMIG at 5.32 pounds. STAN ROMIG & JASON
ROMIG also took the Governors Cup and will have their names engraved in
the prestigious trophy. The tournament was won by ROWDY BOVAN &
MICHAEL LINK with a 2 day total of 21.2 pounds. "Cool Under Pressure"
went to STAN ROMIG & JASON ROMIG who moved up 55 places from
day 1 with an impressive 10.36 pound bag on day 2.
