Prop Talk with Mark's Marine
Our take on Props

Here at Mark's Marine we know that nothing's more frustrating than being able to get back on the water due to a damaged or lost props. That's' why we strive to have the right prop for our customers in-stock. With close to a hundred props in stock, odds are that we can help you find just what you're looking for. We stock a wide variety of OEM props from Yamaha, Mercury, and OMC as well as 4 diffrent styles of Michigan Universal Props in all the most popular sizes, and some less popular sizes too.

The advantage of Universal Props

The future of outboard and sterndrive props are really in the Universal Props like our Vortex and Apollo Props from Michigan Marine. By utilizing interchangable hub kits the same prop can fit multiple motors. Not only that but in many cases these props outperform the OEM props at half the price. The flexibility of interchangable props means that your local dealers, like Mark's Marine, can stock a much larger selection of props.

The Hub Kit and You

The motor specific Hub Kit is what makes the universal props work for such a wide selection of motors. Mark's Marine stocks hub kits for nearly every conceivable motor. Check out our handy chart to see which hub kit you need.

Is your prop right for your boat?

Finding the right prop for your boat can be a source of frustration for many boat owners. Unfortionatly choosing the right prop can be very difficult. It depends on a number of factors, including hull shape, weight distribution, engine power, and desired application. A prop that's just right for pulling skiers might not be the prop that's just right for getting those last few MPH of speed. Check out our Prop tools page for a free prop calculator to determine if your prop is working as efficently as it should, and find links to several large databases of general sizing recomendations. In general a prop that is performaing properly should see a slip of between 6-8% at maximum speed.

Prop Repair

We also offer Prop Repair services through our friends at Precision Propellor. Mark's Marine offers prop repair services at the same low prices as Precision Propeller. This service is offered as a convienence for our customers. We know that gas is tight and you don't allways have the time to get over to Spokane to drop off and pick up your prop. Repairing a prop is a good way to make sure that you have a spare prop should you run into trouble, or if money's tight repairing a prop is often half the price of a new one.
